FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

"Welcome Home BBQ for 7,000 Marines at Twentynine Palms Marine Base September 20"

Twentynine Palms, CA -- On September 20, 2003, a Welcome Home Party and BBQ will be held at the Twentynine Palms Marine base for 7,000 Marines returning home from Iraq and their families. Providing the authentic hardwood-smoked pit BBQ for the event will be competition BBQ teams, BBQ judges, and BBQ enthusiasts from across the country under the aegis of Operation BBQ For Our Troops, working in conjunction with the Marine Corps. Community Service Office.

Operation BBQ For Our Troops is a nationwide grass-roots movement that involves individuals cooking authentic wood smoked BBQ picnics for our military troops that are returning from Iraq and for their families.

Three smaller "Welcome Home" events have already been held in California (for details see http://www.cbbqa.com/obbqfot/index.html ); the September 20th event will be the largest authentic wood smoked BBQ in California history at the world's largest (geographically speaking) Marine Base. Also, the world's largest BBQ pit (see attached photo), the Undisputable Cuz "Undisputable CUZ," is being trucked out from Texas for the event by its owner Bud Liffick. It is 108,000 pounds and 103 feet of Meat Cooking Machine! Also, about 20 chili competition cooks from the Southern California ICS (International Chili Society) will be there cooking chili for the Marines.

Companies from across the nation lined up to donate all the meats, charcoal, wood, rub/spices, sauces and desserts once they found out about the OBBQFOT September 20th event. In all, there will be over 10,000 pounds of meat BBQ'd in hardwood smoke and served to the returning Marines and their families.

The Welcome Home Party and BBQ is being held to recognize the dedication and sacrifice of those who served in Iraq, as well as that of their families. Operation BBQ For Our Troops is a way competition BBQ teams and individuals can express their appreciation for what the troops have done.
